Whether the game is played at 25, 45 or 65, as the saying goes; ‘old habits die hard.’
The puck hog, the guy who won’t come off the ice, the guy who continually goes offside, the cheapskate, the constant borrower, the ladies’ man, etc. We’ve all played with these types over the years and in most cases still do.
The book will also feature the sanctuary of the dressing room. Our mantra states, that once you cross the threshold of the dressing door, whatever happens inside, stays there and the outside world doesn’t exist for a few hours.
I also retell zany, crazy, and bizarre stories shared with me by fellow Beer Leaguers.
The away tournaments or a Beer Leaguer’s version of ‘spring break,’ for college kids.
Crazy Goalies, Referees, the bars we frequent and numerous antics associated with the game.
We’ve joined with Rescue 7 who install defibrillators in businesses and importantly for us and our friends and their families at hockey rinks.
We are taking requests from non-profit organizations for rinks (and community centers) across Canada who currently don’t have defibrillators installed. Rescue 7 have discounted the rates and will add plaques to the installation.

Named The Ultimate Leafs Fan by ESPN, Mike Wilson has collected more than 2,000 Leaf artifacts — the largest collection in the world — now displayed in his ‘recreation’ room.
Artifacts from The Room will be exhibited at the prestigious Canadian Museum of History to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation, the founding of the National Hockey League, and the centennial of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Ultimate Leafs Fan attended every Toronto Maple Leafs contest of the 2018–19 NHL season and in this lively account makes it his mission to figure out what makes fans bleed blue
Through 89 games, from October to April, Mike Wilson, a retired Bay Street trader, travelled to 31 rinks to document stories of Leafs love. Mike took every conceivable mode of transport, stayed in team hotels and on the couches of family and friends, then went into the cheap seats, private suites, the streets, sports bars, hotel lobbies, and many other unique locations where Leafs Nation gets together, to gather tales both hilarious and heart-wrenching. Media personalities, former players, and NHL celebrities gave Wilson their thoughts on what fuels the Leafs passion.
